Our success story began November 13, 2000 with the first simple message from Rico to Cherith titled, "Hello and Welcome." We were halfway across the country from each other (California & Kansas) but had the opportunity to become acquainted through modern technology and the ministry of Larry and Nannette's website.
We first met in person in January 2001 and knew we had a special connection. The weather was ideal in CA (70 degrees and sun) the whole week she was there but started raining as soon as she left.
A long distance relationship by phone, email, instant messaging and video-conferencing was difficult for us, and so in July 2001, Cherith came to California for a whole month of visiting. At the end of her stay I proposed on August 6, 2001 on the top of a giant rock at the edge of the ocean.
I moved to Kansas in January 2002 in preparation for our upcoming June wedding. June 23, 2002 we were married and even enjoyed the presence of Larry and Nannette Thacker who are members of our church.
What a blessing it has been to know Cherith. God has given us a wonderful gift in each other. After having both had difficult experiences in previous relationships, we've found wonderful companions in each other.

Rico had been a member of our web site for several months. But Cherith was not. In Kansas City, we have several SDA churches. Cherith had been attending a different church, but started attending ours. A mutual friend of ours, Mary, told her about our web site and introduced us. So Cherith joined our web site, where she then met Rico, and the rest is history.
Our daughter was the candle-lighter in their wedding. Even though we have had hundreds and hundreds of weddings reported to us, (and more than 50 highlighted in our success stories), this is the first wedding we have actually attended. (That is not a bad thing, as we couldn't afford to attend all the weddings that have resulted from our web site!) But it certainly brought tears to my eyes when the Pastor asked Rico if he takes Cherith... and he shouted a resounding "I do!"
This brought to life for me ALL of the matches that we have helped to bring together, and the joy on Cherith's and Rico's faces showed me the joy others surely must have felt as well. It was an honor and a privilege to have played a role in bringing these two, as well as others, together in this way.
