I thank the Lord for online banking!
When Larry went back to work, he dumped the bills in my lap. It wasn't like I'd never done bills! In fact, we didn't get married until I was 28, so I had years of doing bills and then did bills for years after that before he took over. But I certainly hate the tediousness of keeping track of when they are due and sitting down and writing out checks, putting things in envelopes, and postal mailing them!
So I thought, "In this day and age, surely most of these places have online payments!"
And sure enough, I checked into all of my bills and all but a few had it where I could manually pay one at a time online, or setup with automatic payments online.
I started out with the one at a time online thing, and then decided even that was too much work! I wanted more automation! So if they allowed automatic deduction monthly, I was in!
The handful that did not have online payments were simple too! I setup an account with our bank, to do bill paying online. All it requires is that they have a phone, and U.S. address and I was all set! I just setup the payee and then setup each payment on an automatic monthly basis or one-shot basis, however I wanted.
Today, I even contacted the magazines I advertise in and asked if I could do that with them. So far, I've heard back from two that it is okay, and I went online and set them up right away. One magazine's deadline is the same date each month, so that went on auto-payment each month. The other one changes every month, so I went in and setup one time manual payments for each of those months through the end of the year until their next schedule comes out.
Now, the only things I have to mail in our a Canadian magazine advertisement, and my silly internet service provider that requires I mail in a coupon! Yes, they have online payments, but I have a coupon book for $10 off a month for the first year and they have NO accommodation for that if you're paying online!
In future, any business I do business with will be decided by if they do online payments!
Wow! God was really behind this online banking thing, I'm sure of it! Because that just gives me more extra time for my devotions and worship!
