Earth toned
graceful hills
freckled with cattle
joined by white Egrets
all grazing in a
divided hackwork
of hedge and posts.
Cleared-overgrown
surprises of lavender
blackberries and
bobbing buttercups
awaiting to be plucked
by delighted animals
upright and not.
Peaceful light shimmers.
Nature's voices softly hum.
Moist fragrant breeze wafts
ions of vitality
breathed releasing well being
A Sabbath
full of possibility.
Bobwhite’s perched on posts
Call out warnings overlooking
Nests in stones hidden in grasses
Where speckled eggs
Anticipate freedom of flight
Snuggling blanketed care
From a warm overseer
A flock of Egrets
Handkerchief live oaks
Seeking a field of their own
Suddenly lift startled by
Rumbling semi truck
on the wrong road
blowing devil winds in its wake
All brace and turn
To assess intruder
None concerned as it blows through
Leaving nothing behind
Swallowed up
by the overpowering
Sabbath of Peace.
