Eating grapefruit helps you lose weight, but it also helps prevent diabetes by lowering insulin levels.
Over a 12-week period, eating 1/2 grapefruit or drinking a glass of grapefruit juice with each meal, can lead to loss of three pounds or more. This can be accomplished with no other change in diet, and little or no exercise. The lower insulin levels could indicate increased efficiency in sugar metabolism. Most likely the weight loss is what helps to lower those levels.
I lost 40lbs in one year, and the only change that I made in my diet was to drink grapefruit juice with every meal. Not only did I lose weight, but it brought my thyroid levels to normal and healed my immune system (this winter, for the first time in my life of 53 years, I have not had ONE cold, and thyroid problems are caused by an autoimmune disorder!).
Pink and red grapefruit juice also protect a man's prostate gland.
All those on medications considering adding this juice to their diet should check to make sure there will be no interaction of the meds and juice.
